About Dr. Juan José Villar:

Dr. Villar was born and raised in Lima, Peru. He was a member of the Peruvian National Swim team where he competed internationally prior to moving to the USA where he attended college. He discovered his passion for medicine while doing medical missions while in college. These opportunities took him to Guatemala, the Amazon jungle, Brazil and Uganda where he realized medicine was his passion. He attended medical school at MUSC in Charleston, SC.

Dr. Villar decided to become a psychiatrist when realizing how much medicine affected mental health, and witnessing several colleagues and coworkers struggling with depression, anxiety, and many even suicidal. He is currently the lead/director Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at an outpatient practice in Westchester, New York.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising and traveling. Dr. Villar continues to be a competitive open water swimmer. His last races include Race for the Conch in Turks and Caicos, the Escape to Alcatraz in SF, Round the Sound in Bermuda, and El Cruce Cancun, Mexico.

Dr. Juan José Villar developed the idea of USMLEGRANDMASTER LLC after discovering the demanding challenges that were required to thrive in medical school. It was created to make medical students and doctors mentally strong and confident, to thrive maintaining high standards while working long hours studying and seeing patients while in residency.

USMLEGRANDMASTER specializes working with struggling to pass their board exams. Not explicitly, but many of the students have multiple failures, and or experience English as a second language (ESL). Many of our students are also struggling finding a balance within their mental well-being.

At USMLEGRANDMASTER we focus on the most important thing, YOU. We have developed a tailored approach per student focusing on individual weaknesses and the material that is likely to be tested. Through heavy high yield review and working 1-1 on NBME/USMLE questions together, we focus on re-building your academic confidence, perfecting your reading skills, and figuring out what works specifically based on your methods of studying.

USMLEGRANDMASTER is a place where we teach that everyone has the same chance to succeed, and that hard work and determination will always pay off. To date, Dr. Villar has personally helped 300 students pass their Board exams, with a 98.5 % passing rate on their first try while working with us.
